Aphrodisiac Foods

AphrodisiacThere are certain natural aphrodisiac foods that people will swear work. However, the scientific community has long debated whether bedroom foods or natural aphrodisiacs really exist. Aphrodisiacs are said to be any foods that, when eaten, arouse sexual desire, intensify sexual experience, or improve one’s level of sexual performance. While this may not be scientifically provable, many individuals still enjoy trying and experimenting with aphrodisiacs. After all, playing with food in the bedroom can be great fun, whether there are any verifiable results or not.

If there was to be an aphrodisiac cookbook, what follows is a list of the foods and ingredients, some tasty and some not so tasty, that one might find listed there: almonds, aniseed, asparagus, bananas, basil, broccoli, chocolate, chocolate covered strawberries or other chocolate dipped or coated fruits, carrots, coffee, caffeine containing food or drinks, coriander, fennel, figs or foods or desserts containing figs, garlic, ginger, honey, licorice, m and m’s candies (but only the green ones!), mustard, nutmeg, oysters and most other types of shellfish, pine nuts, pineapples, pomegranate, raspberries, truffles, vanilla, and wine. Some people debate whether or not wine and the other liquids listed above should be included in an aphrodisiac cookbook, as it is a beverage and not a food. Furthermore, alcohol, drugs, or any other substances that cause one to lose inhibitions or control are not considered to be true aphrodisiacs as they act on the mind and not on the body.

Whether or not these bedroom foods actually improve or heighten a couple’s sexual experience is, as explained above, debatable at best. However, this does not really matter! The great thing is that aphrodisiacs and experimenting with these foods brings couples closer together. The two members of the couple can laugh as they try the new foods and compare results, increasing feelings of communication and love, which always lead to better, more open sex. Trying something as small as this can also lead to both individuals being more willing to try other new and potentially enjoyable activities, and openness like this can lead to the fulfillment of the desires and secret fantasies of both people in the pair. Trying new experiences together, both sexual and non sexual, has proven to lead to stronger, more lasting, more mutually satisfying relationships.

Many couples enjoy arranging small “tasing parties” for just the two of them. The couple will set up a romantic spot, complete with candles, wine, and a fancy tablecloth if they so desire, and then take turns sampling different so called aphrodisiacs. The couple may take pleasure in feeding one another or in “tasting” food through kissing. Experimenting with natural aphrodisiac foods can be a great way to put spice in one’s sex life.
